The article highlights the psychological and philosophic aspects of medical students’ self-improvement. In conditions of the credit-modular system, there is an increasing need for promoting students’ personal development and professional growth, creating a favourable social and psychological atmosphere for revealing students’ initiative and developing independence through providing opportunities for self-education and self-discipline
